Any association with established bylaws (within the regulations) can be registered within four weeks at the local government institution responsible for associations. Costs are minimal and include bylaw registration and federal tax.

The incorporation is regulated by federal law (“Vereinsgesetz”; “Bundes-Stiftungs - und Fondsgesetz 2015”, etc.); however the enforcement and registration of associations is done at the local government level (“Bezirksverwaltungsbehörde” - local government office), or in the case of federal municipalities at the state government level (“Landespolizeidirektion” - state police department).
